JONESBORO (1/10/07) - Arkansas State senior fullback Oren O'Neal has been chosen to play in the Inta Juice North-South All-Star Classic Jan. 13 in Houston, Texas.
In its first year, the Inta Juice North-South All-Star Classic will be played at Galena Park ISD Stadium with kickoff set for 11 a.m. CST.
"We're excited about Oren being selected to play in the national all-star game," Arkansas State head coach Steve Roberts said. "Oren has attracted a lot of interest this year from NFL scouts. We know he'll represent Arkansas State in a tremendous fashion."
O'Neal missed three games in 2006 due to injury, but was ASU's starting fullback in all nine games played and while he was used primarily as a blocker, recorded 59 yards rushing on eight carries (7.4 yard average) and 16 receiving yards on three catches (5.3 yard average). CBSSportsline.com's former National Walk-On of the Year, O'Neal started 41 career games at ASU after originally walking on to the team. For his career, O'Neal posted 289 yards on limited carries from his fullback position.
O'Neal was one of four players from the Sun Belt Conference selected to play in the all-star game. Louisiana-Lafayette's Michael Adams and North Texas’ Dylan Lineberry and Johnny Quinn will join O'Neal on the South squad.
As a member of the South squad, O'Neal will be coached by Mike Leach, head coach at Texas Tech. Dana Holgorsen, co-offensive coordinator at Texas Tech, will serve as offensive coordinator, while Rice University head coach Todd Graham will take on the defensive coordinator position.
Dick Tomey of San Jose State will coach the North team.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN 2.
